About the wine
The best locations to produce Australia's best varietal wine: that was what legendary Californian wine pioneer Robert Mondavi sought and found in the then still unknown Margaret River area at the beginning of the 1970s and led to the construction of the Leeuwin winery in 1977 under the leadership of Denis and Tricia Horgan (with Mondavi as consultant). Bob's choice was already evident in 1980, when the Artist Series Chardonnay received the highest ratings from Decanter magazine. Since then, the estate has regularly collected the best reviews with its world-class wines
Tasting note
Purity and clarity are the trademarks of this wine. Complex notes of buttered pear, lemon zest and yellow peach, roasted hazelnuts, nougat, panna cotta and some flint and graphite. The palate is fresh and full of energy: lemon, lime and pear peel meets oyster peel and salty notes. A soft texture and a long finish characterize this world-class wine.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with seafood, white meats and starters.
Vinification
It is 100% fermented in new French barriques and aged for 11 months with continuous stirring of the yeast.
