Merlot Petit Verdot 3055 2019 - Jean León

About the wine

The landscape in Catalonia is barren, whose breathtaking expanses don't fit on any poster, but in a bottle. The Merlot Petit Verdot 3055 is anything but barren: Merlot together with Petit Verdot, a grape that takes more time to mature than others, blend into this youthful interpretation of the winery's most complex red wines.

Tasting note
Deep cherry red with bluish-violet reflections in the glass. On the nose, fine notes of sweet ripened and candied fruits with gentle roasted and spicy aromas due to the short barrique maturity. Both soft and powerful on the palate. The fine notes of candied fruit spices persist from the nose. The elegant, finely ripened tannins give the wine a nice length in the finish. Goes well with grilled meat, fish and poultry, cold platters and soft cheeses.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpost team recommends this Merlot Petit Verdot 3055 to accompany poultry, duck and slightly spicy red meat. Our recommendation: The perfect drinking temperature for the red wine is a slightly chilled 14°-16°C. The wine should be enjoyed during this period: Now until 2020.
Vinification
The vines of Merlot and Petit Verdot grow on moist limestone soils and clay soils on limestone subsoil. Harvesting takes place from the beginning of September, then fermentation within three weeks at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. After 15 days of maceration, during which they remove a lot of color, dense aromas and gentle tannins from the berry skins, the wines are aged for five months in 225 liter French oak barriques. Bottled at the end of April followed by a short rest period.
