Bacchus Red Blend 2018 - Mont Blois

About the wine

With the powerful Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 — Bacchus Red Blend, nuances and accents are redefined. Fertile and graceful landscapes of the Breede River Valley give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the South African winery Mont Blois conjures up this red wine with refinement and experience. Flaschenpost team tip: Combine this Cabernet Sauvignon with ribeye steak or gruyère burger.

Tasting note
Complex nose of cassis, tobacco, red cherries and a herbaceous freshness. Violet, black cherry, chocolate and pencil notes merge into the palate, also with sumptuous oak spice. Really generous, rich and smooth. Elegant, classic, restrained yet delicious wine. It's beautiful.
Culinary recommendation
Goes very well with braised lamb dishes and short-roasted red meat.
Vinification
The history of the Mont Blois winery and the Bruwer family begins in 1869, when the first farm was purchased. Six generations later, Ernst Bruwer now runs our 3 farms in Robertson, namely Mont Blois, La Fontaine and Sunshine. The Mont Blois Wynlandgoed cellar was built in 1884. The farm is named after the picturesque town of Blois on the Loire, from which the Bruwer's originate. Owner Ernst Bruwer took over the succession from his grandfather Ernst Bruwer Snr. He believed in sustainable agriculture and tending to older vineyards. Winemaker Nina-Mari and Ernst met during their joint viticulture and oenology studies at Stellenbosch University. Nina-Mari joined the Mont Blois team in 2008. In 2014, Nina-Mari was awarded the prestigious title Cape Wine Master. The team of men and women is passionate about producing site-specific quality wines. The wine matured for 24 months in French wooden barrels.
