About the wine
The Barnaut champagne house, founded in Bouzy in 1874, is one of the few in Champagne that may wear the prestigious Grand Cru appellation Philippe Séconde, in the 5th generation of Winemaker family, today processes all grapes themselves after his father sold them to Louis Roederer sold. Barnaut champagne is produced using the “assemblage perpétuel” method, in which Wines from different vintages are mixed so that the Grande Réserve even has traces of contains the first volume from 1874.
Tasting note
Fine and slow perlage. In the nose, ripe pear, honeycomb, butter toast, citrus fruits and subtle nut flavors. On the palate, a nice mousse and creaminess, fresh acidity and a harmonious departure.
Culinary recommendation
Ideal as an aperitif, seafood and sushi.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand and then selected again. About 2/3 Pinot Noir for the body and the typical terroir character as well as 1/3 Chardonnay for freshness and longevity. Ageing and bottle aging for approx. 6 years, dosage 6gr per liter.
