Bottle of La Celestina Crianza DO from Bodegas Atalaya

Awards

94/100 Wine Enthustiast, Gold medal Mundus Vini

Novelty from Ribera del Duero

This remarkable red wine from the renowned Bodegas Atalaya, located in the unique region of Soria, enchants connoisseurs worldwide and is now newly found in Switzerland and also in our range.

The vineyards of the Atauta Valley are located higher than other areas in the Ribera del Duero, which gives the grapes more time to ripen. The result is wines of incomparable finesse and freshness.

Miguel Sánchez, a passionate wine merchant and visionary whose family is from the area, recognized the valley's great potential about 20 years ago and founded Bodegas Atalaya. Today, Tempranillo vines thrive in old vineyards in the region and his winery is considered one of the best terroirs in Ribera del Duero.

La Celestina Crianza DO 2019 stands out not only for its unique origin, but also for its excellent price-quality ratio. Thus, in a very short time, the wine has conquered the hearts of wine lovers and won some of the most prestigious wine awards.

Bottle of Curej Barbera d'Asti DOCG from Braida / Giacomo Bologna

Awards

Piedmont quality

Curej - the latest creation of the Braida family of Piedmont. The Braida winery, led by Giacomo Bologna, has long made a name for itself as a top producer of autochthonous grape varieties, especially Barbera. Now a new Barbera has been born in the Braida house. With the first vintage of 2019, the Curej stands for the new vineyard next to the beautiful agriturismo that Braida has newly opened.

Monks were already cultivating vines in the area in the 18th century and since then the area has been cultivated by single families. Hence the name Curej - a local nickname for the families who live on this land that has been cultivated for centuries - with its origins in farm implements from the past of wine production.

Taste-wise, it recalls the wide views that can be enjoyed from the agriturismo: open, wide, simple and full of happiness. So Curej is the new Barbera d'Asti Docg from Braida. We are thrilled!

The taste of the Maremma

Here comes the latest vintage of «Poggio Valente» from the legendary Fattoria Le Pupille! In the bag: 94 points each from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and James Suckling.

In the late 1970s, Elisabetta Geppetti decided to swap university lecture halls for vineyards, wine cellars and rubber boots. Full of drive, the young woman transformed the farm of her father-in-law Fredi into a modern quality winery. Today, Fattoria Le Pupille is among the elite of Italian wine, its «Saffredi» is undisputedly one of the icons of Belpaese and is mentioned in the same breath as supertuscans such as Sassicaia, Luce or Solaia. The mother of five is affectionately called «Signora del Morellino». She played a decisive role in making the local variety of Sangiovese - Morellino di Scansano - internationally known. Today, Elisabetta Geppetti's wines can be enjoyed in restaurants on four continents of the world.

Awards

Robert Parker: 94/100

The very special drop from Quevedo

We have the high-end wine from Quevedo brand new in our range: for the Q Grande Reserva, the family winery from the Douro Valley uses a selection of its best grapes. The small, intensely fragrant fruits are perfect for making an age-worthy wine full of character. This is an incredibly dense Grande Reserva that seems almost bursting with black berries.

The phenomenal thing about the Q is that, for all its power, this muscle-bound wine comes across as completely balanced and elegant. «This wine is perfect for a rich table to celebrate great moments with family and friends,» recommend Claudia and Oscar Quevedo. A special wine for special moments. In fact, it is produced only in very limited quantities.

«A deep and ripe Grande Reserva,» concludes Mark Squires of Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, who ennobles the 2019 with an outstanding 94 points. The wine critic predicts a great future for the «Q»: «Looks like it has a long life ahead of it.... Give it some time to show its best. Its ceiling may be higher than it seems now.» So if you let the wine age in the cellar for a few more years, you're guaranteed not to go wrong. This way, you're sure to have a suitable drop in the house when an extraordinary event needs to be celebrated. One last tip: This Portuguese Reserva goes wonderfully with game.

Bottle of Champagne Taittinger Brut Reserve from Taittinger

James Suckling: 92/100

Well-tried champagne with a new design

Taittinger is one of the largest and most prestigious champagne houses. It was founded in 1734, but it has borne its current name only since 1931, when it was taken over by the Taittinger family. Over the years, it has built its outstanding reputation for quality and elegance.

The family business owns and cultivates several vineyards in Champagne, including 34 Grand Cru sites in Avize, Cramant and Chouilly. Typical of all the house's products is the high proportion of Chardonnay in all the cuvées.

The Taittinger family has played an important role in French political and economic life for generations. It is also a patron of the arts and culture and of environmental protection. The company is committed to biodiversity in its vineyards and the responsible use of resources.

Taittinger is the last great champagne house that still bears the name of its contemporary owners: «Putting our family name on a bottle means responsibility and commitment at every moment. This signature contains both our expertise of the past and our commitment to tomorrow,» Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger says proudly. The new, simple label design makes this clear. Finesse, lightness and excellence are the hallmarks of Taittinger Brut Reserve champagne.

Bottle of "Wein einfach fein" Rot AOC from Weinbau von Salis

The charmer from Grisons

It has long since ceased to be only the people of Graubünden who are firmly convinced that, apart from Burgundy, the Herrschaft has the best terroir for Pinot Noir. «If you consider the price-performance ratio, we are even better than Burgundy,» says Micha Davaz, the young managing director of Von Salis AG. The cornerstone of the company's success is its chalky, permeable soils, which contain a high percentage of Graubünden slate. The other important ingredient is the ideal climate, which is characterized by plenty of sunshine, the Föhn and the large temperature differences between day and night.

«Our goal is to produce innovative and excellent quality Swiss wines and bring them to as wide an audience as possible,» Davaz says. The image of Swiss wines has developed extremely positively over the past 15 years. The new generation can build on this and it is doing so playfully and confidently. A good example is the «wine simply fine» - a fine-fruity flatterer with slight residual sweetness. In the meantime, it has become one of the most popular Swiss red wines and an indispensable part of the Grisons gastronomy. The new vintage 2022 has once again totally enthused us!

Bottle of Balfour Leslie's Reserve Gold Extra Dry Hush Heath Estate from Balfour Winery

Southern England bubbles to the top

The cool climate and the limestone soils in the county of Kent offer conditions similar to those in Champagne. Excellent sparkling wines are therefore also the flagship of the booming wine region. Richard and Leslie Balfour-Lynn founded their winery back in 2002 and are among the pioneers.

Leslie's Reserve Gold is an exemplary example of a high-quality bubbly made in the UK: rich and ripe with a touch of sweetness that harmonizes perfectly with the fresh English acidity. Delicious!
