The very special drop from Quevedo

We have the high-end wine from Quevedo brand new in our range: for the Q Grande Reserva, the family winery from the Douro Valley uses a selection of its best grapes. The small, intensely fragrant fruits are perfect for making an age-worthy wine full of character. This is an incredibly dense Grande Reserva that seems almost bursting with black berries.

The phenomenal thing about the Q is that, for all its power, this muscle-bound wine comes across as completely balanced and elegant. «This wine is perfect for a rich table to celebrate great moments with family and friends,» recommend Claudia and Oscar Quevedo. A special wine for special moments. In fact, it is produced only in very limited quantities.

«A deep and ripe Grande Reserva,» concludes Mark Squires of Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, who ennobles the 2019 with an outstanding 94 points. The wine critic predicts a great future for the «Q»: «Looks like it has a long life ahead of it.... Give it some time to show its best. Its ceiling may be higher than it seems now.» So if you let the wine age in the cellar for a few more years, you're guaranteed not to go wrong. This way, you're sure to have a suitable drop in the house when an extraordinary event needs to be celebrated. One last tip: This Portuguese Reserva goes wonderfully with game.

Well-tried champagne with a new design

Taittinger is one of the largest and most prestigious champagne houses. It was founded in 1734, but it has borne its current name only since 1931, when it was taken over by the Taittinger family. Over the years, it has built its outstanding reputation for quality and elegance.

The family business owns and cultivates several vineyards in Champagne, including 34 Grand Cru sites in Avize, Cramant and Chouilly. Typical of all the house's products is the high proportion of Chardonnay in all the cuvées.

The Taittinger family has played an important role in French political and economic life for generations. It is also a patron of the arts and culture and of environmental protection. The company is committed to biodiversity in its vineyards and the responsible use of resources.

Taittinger is the last great champagne house that still bears the name of its contemporary owners: «Putting our family name on a bottle means responsibility and commitment at every moment. This signature contains both our expertise of the past and our commitment to tomorrow,» Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger says proudly. The new, simple label design makes this clear. Finesse, lightness and excellence are the hallmarks of Taittinger Brut Reserve champagne.

The charmer from Grisons

It has long since ceased to be only the people of Graubünden who are firmly convinced that, apart from Burgundy, the Herrschaft has the best terroir for Pinot Noir. «If you consider the price-performance ratio, we are even better than Burgundy,» says Micha Davaz, the young managing director of Von Salis AG. The cornerstone of the company's success is its chalky, permeable soils, which contain a high percentage of Graubünden slate. The other important ingredient is the ideal climate, which is characterized by plenty of sunshine, the Föhn and the large temperature differences between day and night.

«Our goal is to produce innovative and excellent quality Swiss wines and bring them to as wide an audience as possible,» Davaz says. The image of Swiss wines has developed extremely positively over the past 15 years. The new generation can build on this and it is doing so playfully and confidently. A good example is the «wine simply fine» - a fine-fruity flatterer with slight residual sweetness. In the meantime, it has become one of the most popular Swiss red wines and an indispensable part of the Grisons gastronomy. The new vintage 2022 has once again totally enthused us!

Southern England bubbles to the top

The cool climate and the limestone soils in the county of Kent offer conditions similar to those in Champagne. Excellent sparkling wines are the flagship of the booming wine region. Richard and Leslie Balfour-Lynn founded their winery back in 2002 and are among the pioneers.

Leslie's Reserve Gold is an exemplary example of a high-quality bubbly made in the UK: rich and ripe with a touch of sweetness that harmonizes perfectly with the fresh English acidity. Delicious!
