About the wine
The name Roero stands for the growing region, the name Arneis for the grape variety. How did the name Arneis come about? The famous journalist Mario Soldati met a winemaker in 1960, tasted this white wine, which was kindly offered to him, and asked him the name. The winemaker replies that he doesn't have a name yet. Soldati asks him what he has in his hand and he answers: “l'arneis” (tool in Piedmontese dialect), whereupon the journalist says: “This wine will be called Arneis.”
