About the wine
Paradisiacal bays, deep blue seas, impressive mountain landscapes and blooming vines — the Marlborough region at the upper tip of New Zealand's South Island invites you to dream and relax. It's no wonder that Sauvignon Blanc grapes grow particularly well here. And the wine from Cloudy Bay is definitely one of the best.
Tasting note
The Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc — a wine that changed the world. With his vibrant, sparkling character, he put New Zealand on the world's wine list and exceeded all expectations. It is one of the most popular Sauvignon Blanc worldwide and is New Zealand's most famous wine. What makes him so special? An uncompromising commitment to quality: Only the best grapes from around 90 individual plots are used. Up to 30% of the original harvest is sorted out — less quantity, but the highest quality. A wine for connoisseurs: The intense variety of aromas of ripe citrus fruits, white stone fruits and pink peppercorns, accompanied by a salty note and refreshing citrus freshness, promises an unforgettable taste experience. And the best part: This wine ages elegantly and develops its full potential over up to 10 years. Get your piece of New Zealand wine history — the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, an experience for the senses.
Culinary recommendation
The Sauvignon Blanc 2024 goes well with almost all seafood, tempura oysters, locally caught sashimi and steamed mussels with garlic, citrus and parsley. It is also great with green salads and goat cheese. A tip from us: If it goes well with lemon, it also goes with Sauvignon Blanc.
Vinification
After harvesting, the pre-run must was cold before being transferred and mixed with selected yeast. Fermentation was carried out primarily in stainless steel tanks, with around 1.5% of the blend at warmer temperatures in large oak barrels were fermented. Some of the must was also fermented with wild yeast to create texture and complexity. As usual, only the best grapes were used for our Sauvignon Blanc. For the 2024 vintage, we only used the 55 best of the 81 different plots.
