Puglia, in Italy's boot heel, is home to a vast wine-growing region. Vines are grown here on some 1,900 hectares: Whether in the north around the city of Bari, in the famous Trulli region in the central part, or in the southernmost tip, Salento – almost the entire hilly plain of Puglia is covered with vines. For the most part, Primitivo, Malvasia Nera and Negroamaro are grown. For a long time, Pugliese wine was underestimated, but little was done in the region to improve its reputation. Instead of quality, the focus was on the mass production of cheap wines.
For some time now, a trend reversal can be observed: More and more wine producers are discovering the potential of their region and are working towards ever more refined products. Today, around two dozen Apulian wine-growing areas already meet the high quality standards of the DOC label, including the important DOC region of Primitivo di Manduria. We have selected the best Apulian wine for you. Bring home the warmth of the south!
