Weingut Schloss GobelsburgChampagne & Sparkling wine | 75cl1210°CPinot noir, Grüner Veltliner, Rhine Riesling
Parker: 92 Punkte; Wine Spectator: 88 Punkte
Tasting note
A golden-colored sparkling wine scented of nuts and herbs, which appeals to the connoisseur with its exciting spice, has a racy acidity and a brilliant length. By far the best that is available as sparkling wine in Austria.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: The sparkling wine tastes best at a slightly chilled 10°C. Flaschenpost team recommends this Sekt Brut Reserve Schloss Gobelsburg to accompany shellfish, oysters and aperitifs.
Vinification
The base wine for this sparkling wine corresponds to a cross section of varieties (Pinot Noir, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner) through the winery and its locations. The grapes from Heiligenstein, Gaisberg Grub and Lamm are picked into small boxes at the right time and pressed immediately, but only the heart is used for the base wine. After 6 months of barrel aging, it is bottled for the 2nd fermentation. It now rests on the yeast, which contributes to the creamy texture, for 2 to 3 years until it is shaken off and disgorged by hand.
