About the wine
The Spanish wine region of Montsant, whose wine history dates back to the Romans, is located in the province of Tarragona between Zaragoza and Barcelona and surrounds the Priorat wine region. Montsant has around 50 wineries, which cultivate a total of 2000 ha of vineyards. Founded in 1917, Celler El Masroig is considered one of the most important wineries in Montsant. The estate cultivates over 500 hectares of vineyards, all under the Denominació doriGien Montsant label. Around 2.5 million kg of grapes are harvested, spread over the varieties Mazuela (Carinyena), Tempranillo, Garnacha and Syrah, most of which grow on red clay soil, an important ingredient that has a lasting effect on the quality of the wines. Drinking an El Masroig wine means feeling the character and culture of this magnificent landscape.
