Ornus 2014 has an intense golden color with amber reflections. It has a complex aroma that smells of candied orange peel, dried apricots and caramel. In terms of taste, it impresses with a very balanced ratio of sugar content and a fruity, fresh acidity with apricot, sweet tobacco and slightly bitter caramel notes. A spicy, sweet and light wine at the same time.” - Axel Heinz
Goes well with panna cotta, tiramisu or gorgonzola dolce.
Each harvest pass resulted in a vinification unit, which in turn was pressed and vinified separately. After extensive light pressing and natural clarification during one night, the various production units fermented in 100% new oak barriques at temperatures of no more than 22° C. After reaching the desired balance between sugar and alcohol content, fermentation was stopped. No malolactic fermentation was carried out. After decanting, the wines matured for 12 months, after which the various batches were married into a cuveé. Bottling was followed by a year of bottle aging before the wine was finally released to the market. “Ornus dell'Ornellaia originates from a passion for our terroir and the desire to bring out its potential to produce great late harvest wines. The mild and well-ventilated climate, typical of autumn in Bolgheri, is very suitable for this.
