Tasting note
On the nose, raspberry and blackberry fruits are surrounded by aromatic spices and black pepper. Complemented by a delicate vanilla note from oak wood. The palate shows fresh black fruits with milk chocolate, juicy fruit cake and fresh black pepper with long, velvety tannins. A wine that shows a fine balance between elegance and power.
Vinification
Grant Burge was born into a family of winemakers in 1951, and it soon became apparent that he had an exceptional talent for wine production. He studied with the best in South Australia before founding his own winery at the age of 26. In just ten years, his name became one of Australia's most coveted and renowned. Countless awards, including Australia's highest award, the Jimmy Watson Trophy, testify to his success. Four individual plots of three first-class Eden Valley vineyards were picked separately and fermented. The Eden Valley is cooler compared to the Barossa Valley, resulting in slightly lighter, more elegant wines. A longer time on the mash also contributes to the depth of the taste and the silky tannin structure.
