Burgenland
Quality wines from Austria
Grüner Veltliner is the buzzword when it comes to Austrian wine. Of course, this also applies to the Burgenland growing region – albeit to a lesser extent: The national grape accounts for only a fifth of the vines here, compared to the 30% nationwide. On the other hand, Burgenland is home to many other grape varieties, such as Welschriesling, Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Blaufränkisch. The stars of the region on the border with Hungary are clearly the fabulous sweet wines. And in this context, we have some good news for you: Since most of Lower Austria's vines are planted on the plain, the yield for sweet wine production is relatively high, which in turn means that bottles from this region can be bought for less than comparables from Germany or France. Well, what do you say to that? In our store you will find our selection of the best Austrian wines.
