Grüner Veltliner is the buzzword when it comes to Austrian wine. Of course, this also applies to the Burgenland growing region – albeit to a lesser extent: The national grape accounts for only a fifth of the vines here, compared to the 30% nationwide. On the other hand, Burgenland is home to many other grape varieties, such as Welschriesling, Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Blaufränkisch.
