By law, a Brunello di Montalcino Riserva must mature in wooden barrels for at least 3 years, and it takes another two years before it can be sold. At Poggio Antico, the grapes from the oldest and deepest vineyards are selected for the Riserva, which is only bottled in excellent vintages. Small-berried and highly concentrated, the result is a corpulent wine with a powerful tannin structure, whose softness is particularly prominent due to the long aging period, is wonderfully integrated into the overall picture and enables the wine to develop further over many years.
