About the wine

Not a story, a fairy tale. In this beguilingly beautiful and hot valley, winegrowers used to grow grapes only for the major port wine producers with hard work but little passion until Dirk van Niepoort came along. With his bold idea of founding a kind of cooperative with numerous winegrowers and working with an excellent team to process the grapes into independent wines that reflect their origin, he woke the Douro Valley out of deep sleep. Since 1999, the Lavradores de Feitoria community has been producing remarkable and astonishingly cheap wines year after year.
