About the wine

With the striking Merlot 2010 — Chateau Mauvinon AOC Grand Cru Classe Saint-Emilion, you can offer your guests something very special. North and east of the Gironde and Dordogne are the gravelly soils that offer the winemaker from the French winery Château Mauvinon everything he needs to live out his craft and produce a wine for discerning connoisseurs. Culinary tip from Flaschenpöstler: This Merlot is excellent to serve with duck or slightly spicy red meat.

Chateau Mauvinon AOC Grand Cru Classe Saint-Emilion
The wine smells of dark fruits such as cassis and black cherries. Fine aromas of cedar wood suggest an elegant wine. Fruit, wood and tannins are very balanced. On the palate, the wine is complex, dense, with a slight spicy note and beautifully rounded. The tannin is restrained, the finish is long.

The vineyards of Château Mauvinon are located just a few hundred meters from the sandstone slopes of the wine-growing town of St-Émilion. The vines thrive on mineral-rich sandy soils with little calcareous pebbles. The mixing ratio of the two most important grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet Franc adapts annually to the events of the harvest and the vintage. Half of the harvest matures for 9-14 months in new oak barrels, the other half in once used ones.
