Chateau Mauvinon AOC Grand Cru Classe Saint-Emilion 2019 - Château Mauvinon

About the wine

With the distinctive Merlot 2010 — Chateau Mauvinon AOC Grand Cru Classe Saint-Emilion, you can offer your guests something very special. North and east of Gironde and Dordogne are the gravelly soils that offer the winemaker from the French winery Château Mauvinon everything he needs to live out his craft and produce a wine for discerning connoisseurs. Culinary tip from Flaschenpöstler: This Merlot is ideal to serve with duck or slightly spicy red meat.

Château MauvinonRed wine | 75clMerlot, Cabernet Franc
Tasting note
The wine smells of dark berries (cassis, black cherries). Fine aromas of cedarwood suggest an elegant wine. Fruit, wood and tannins are very balanced. On the palate, the wine is complex, dense, with a slight spicy note and nicely rounded off. The tannin is restrained, the finish long.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: The ideal drinking temperature for red wine is a slightly chilled 15°-18°C. Flaschenpöstler recommends this Chateau Mauvinon AOC Grand Cru Classe Saint-Emilion for poultry, slightly spicy red meat and duck.
Vinification
Information about vinification: The winery is located just a few hundred meters from the sandstone slopes of the wine-growing town of St-Emilion. The two vineyards are located on mineral-rich sandy soils with little calcareous pebbles. Merlot and Cabernet Franc are the two most important grape varieties, whose mixing ratio is adjusted annually to the circumstances of the harvest and the vintage. Half of the harvest matures in new oak barrels, the other half in used ones. The ripening period is between nine and fourteen months.
