About the wine

From Castelnuovo dell'Abate, south of Montalcino, a bumpy road leads to a place where you might think that time has simply stood still. Despite the wonderful view, there are no other roads to be seen and it's no further from here. The Mastrojanni s have been producing very good Brunello here since the 1970s. The soil, climate and orientation of the hillsides are optimal and since a few technical innovations have been implemented in the cellar and large parts of the vineyard have been replanted, the potential of this wine has been expressed even more clearly. Neighbor and friend Francesco Illy and his siblings have taken over and, with the remaining plant manager and oenologist Andrea Machetti, guarantee to further exploit its potential.
