St. Henri Shiraz 2021 - Penfolds

About the wine

A must for connoisseurs, this dominant red wine 2012 — St. Henri Shiraz! With sensitivity and intuition, the winemaker from the Australian winery Penfolds masters this red wine in the picturesque and enchanting landscape of South Australia. Flaschenpöstler culinary tip: This Shiraz is very good to serve with game or roasted vegetables.

PenfoldsRed wine | 75clThe unique character of this wine is due to the fruity Shiraz. Dominant notes of blackberry and black currant give it its playful structures.
Tasting note
Its unparalleled purple is the icing on the cake for any special occasion. Your friends will confirm it for you. The St. Henri Shiraz's playful bouquet of blackberry, bread and jam shows a complex aroma structure and lots of finesse. The dominant notes of blackcurrant and chocolate create their individual texture. A fruity red wine with a medium-bodied and dominant acidity, which harmoniously develops its lively structure with finely developed tannins on the tongue and on the palate. This top wine was awarded with: Robert Parker 2015:96+ points.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: Drink this red wine at a slightly chilled 16°-18°C. The ideal period for enjoying this wine is at least 9 years. Flaschenpöstler recommends this St. Henri Shiraz for barbecues, roasted vegetables and game.
Vinification
The vinification took place as follows: St. Henri is unusual among high-quality Australian red wines, as no new wood is used for it. The aging takes place for 13 months in 1,460 liter oak barrels that are at least 50 years old, which allow the wine to develop only a slight wooden character, if at all. The 2012 St. Henri grapes come from the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills, Robe and Clare Valley.
