About the wine
Venus la Universal was founded in 1999 by the gifted oenologist Sara Pérez and is today managed by her husband Rene Barbier Jr. They work in harmony with nature; the cultivation and expansion follow biodynamic principles (currently not certified). Venus la Universal is one of the many fascinating projects by the two winemakers, whose fathers kissed Priorat awake with Mas Martinet and Clos Mogador. Sara Pérez and René Barbier Jr. are now continuing their legendary fathers' Spanish wine tale with great success, not only in Priorat, but also in Montsant.

Tasting note
Pure elegance and style. Oh how it crackles, simply stunning, this dark eroticism, dark berries and ripe sweet fruits, plums, with noble distinction and mysterious depth, licorice, slate and peat. On the palate, beguiling elegance, smooth and silky, wonderfully fresh and sweet dark fruit, elegant play, yet with a lot of class, noble feminine structure, flirtatious fresh and tart, equally repulsive and enticing, never goes out of mind. Pure nobility and eroticism — seduction couldn't be more stylish.
Culinary recommendation

Vinification
Selective reading by hand. Spot fermentation of the partially strapped, whole berries in wooden tanks and open wooden vats, after which the wine matures for 18 months in large and small wooden barrels.
