About the wine
Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay were not recognized as grape varieties by the then vineyard regulations and were grown for the first time in Sicily in 1985 on Tenuta Regaleali. The grapes come from a single vineyard in the upper part of the San Francesco hill at an altitude of approximately 570 meters, facing south-west and with moderately heavy soils of sand, clay and chalk. The wine ages for 18 months in 225 liter fine and medium grain barriques. The wine is powerful and austere and shows the typical freshness of different latitudes.
Tasca d'AlmeritaRed wine | 75cl1416°-18°CThis wine gets its own and fruity character thanks to the fruity Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit compotes and black cherries form their own dominant flavor nuances.
Tasting note
Dense ruby red with a large core. Compact and concentrated on the nose, with notes of ripe cassis, blackberries, licorice, fireplace smoke and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is strong and structured, with juicy but present tannins. Concentrated, harmonious power. Black berries and lots of spice. Multifaceted, long aftertaste, wonderfully accompanied by the roast aromas.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with grilled or fried meat and with mature cheese.
Vinification
The showhorse of Tasca d'Almerita. A pure Cabernet Sauvignon from old vines. After the grapes have been pressed, the mash is fermented in wooden vats and then aged in 300-liter French barriques (Allier, Tronçais) for twelve months for refinement.
