About the wine

Tasting note
The Fass 11 Schonfels delights the nose with opulent, almost overripe aromas of pear, quince, melon paired with herbal notes, pepper, some curry and sweet spices. On the palate, it is rich in taste and dense with an uncanny juiciness and minerality, which results in an almost endless finish. A perfect interplay of fruit, spice and playful acidity with a slightly salty aftertaste make this wine a very big wine. Simply strong!!!

Vinification
The grapes for this large plant come from almost 105-year-old vines, which grow on stony slate soil on a south-south-south-east slope with 70% slope. In the vineyard, particular emphasis is placed on integrated and environmentally friendly management as well as on late and very selective harvesting. After the obligatory whole grape pressing with partial maceration, the must is traditionally fermented spontaneously in large wooden barrels and aged on the yeast for 6 months, with occasional battonage. The wine has approx. 3.3 grams of residual sugar and 6 grams of acid per liter and a moderate alcohol content of 12.5% by volume.
