Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2024 - Poggio Antico

The Azienda Poggio Antico with its 37 hectares of vineyards is the highest vineyard in Montalcino. The vine has been certified organic since 2020. The fantastic thing about Azienda Poggio Antico wines is their combination of maximum concentration and the most sophisticated richness of nuances, they never seem overloaded or heavy. At Poggio Antico, no distinction is made between Brunello di Montalcino grapes and those used to press Rosso di Montalcino. The pressing itself is also identical; the Rosso also matures in tonneaux (500 liter barrels) and large oak barrels, but only for one year. After a further 4 months of bottle aging, it is released for sale. In the end, Rosso is simply a Brunello di Montalcino that does not bear this appeal because it does not meet the legally required maturation period of 4 years overall. The density of Rosso from Poggio Antico is remarkable, the price/pleasure ratio is excellent!
