About the wine
The winemaker from the Italian winery Masi has absolutely mastered his craft. Style and refinement are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the blooming and beautiful countryside of Veneto. You are sure to enjoy the delicious Campolongo di Torbe Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOC, which was produced in 2011.
Tasting note
Dark, dense ruby. The powerful, full-bodied bouquet is reminiscent of compote-like, black fruit. A bit of leather, warm spices like black pepper and cloves, and also a little vanilla. On the palate, a very soft start, pronounced, intense dried fruit aromas and earthy and balsamic nuances. The entire aroma package is rounded off by sweet spicy nuances. An almost endless finale with brilliant harmony. It's a great wine. Only around 14,000 bottles are bottled per vintage.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with fine meat dishes, but is also recommended with ripe cheeses.
Vinification
After harvesting, the grapes are laid out in wooden boxes and dried. The grapes are not pressed until January. The must is then fermented in Slavonian oak barrels for 50 days. 80% of the young wine is then refined for 20 to 30 months in large 600 l barrels and 20% in new Allier barriques. The wine ages in the bottle for a further six to twelve months. The Campolongo is made with more Rondinella (25%) than the classic Amarone from Masi.
