An elegant wooden staircase, which originates from an early twentieth-century Trieste cruise ship, leads to the beautiful salon of Castello di Buttrio. Antique furniture, stylish wallpaper and an imposing Murano glass chandelier draw the eye. We pass through an elegant Art Nouveau door into the next room, where a Venetian terrace beckons us outside. Here you can let your gaze wander from the Julian Alps to the Adriatic Sea. Although the building is old and the furnishings are mainly antique, the ambience is fresh and modern. Strolling through the various rooms feels like a carefree walk through bygone eras. The Castello is characterised by a soothing tranquillity. "In contrast to the hectic pace of today's world, we want to offer an oasis where time seems to stand still," explains Michela, who is in charge of the hotel's marketing. Her mother Alessandra agrees with her: "Enjoying the moment has become a real privilege. Whether we are travelling, spending time with our loved ones or simply allowing ourselves a moment of peace - when we are present, we experience life as enriching and less stressful." A relaxed attitude makes us more receptive to sensory perception. This explains, for example, why many people like the same wine better on holiday than in everyday life. The wines from Castello di Buttrio also remind us to "activate" our senses on the outside: the labels look as stylish as the noble castle's wallpaper thanks to the silk-like paper and the relief print. The history of the location was also taken into account: in the early days of the castle, highly prized Italian silk fabrics were produced here. Style and sophistication have a long tradition at Castello di Buttrio. The Sauvignon Blanc is also in this spirit: its precise flavour combines gooseberry, mango and peach to create a wine of timeless elegance.
