About the wine
The Utiel-Requena wine region is located in the hilly highlands west of Valencia and owes its name to the two largest towns in the region. Wines made from the Bobal grape, which has been neglected for a long time, are a specialty of the D.O. and scores points with exciting spicy notes and dark berry aromas. It has contributed a large part to the immense leap in quality that the area has made in recent years. The Finca Casa Lo Alto is located west of the village of Requena and was founded back in 1796. It is located on a hill with a wonderful view of the surrounding fertile hills. The Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Bobal varieties grow on around 70 hectares. Garnacha and the white Chardonnay variety complement the range of varieties. | Taking up a charming Spanish New Year's Eve custom, the wine specialty 12 UVAS DE LA SUERTE was created. A grape — a lucky grape — is eaten in Spain at each of the 12 beats of the bell at the turn of the year.
