Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc Lahn DOC 2016 - Kellerei St-Michael

About the wine

St. Michael-Eppan is a cooperative of 350 winegrowers and, with its various individual vineyards with a total of more than 380 ha of cultivated area, is one of the largest and most successful wineries in South Tyrol. Despite its size, quality has been at the forefront since it was founded in 1907, which is why it is now one of the best winegrowing cooperatives in the world. The winery has been managed by the outstanding oenologist Hans Terzer since 1977. Thanks to his unconditional passion for wines and his perfectionism, the quality of the wines increased to a very high degree under his leadership. In 1997, he was named one of the 10 most important winemakers in the world by the Italian wine magazine Il Gambero Rosso. In 2000, another prestigious award followed when St. Michael-Eppan received the Italian Winery of the Year award. High quality awareness is still paramount today, so that the wines continue to be regularly awarded 3 glasses of Gambero Rosso and Slow Food.

Tasting note
Thanks to the pure ageing in stainless steel, the pure fruit rotates in the glass. The bouquet of this wine from the single layer of Lahn smells intensely of grapefruit, honey and gooseberries; the palate starts fresh and fruity and then merges into a juicy middle, which rolls into the finale for a long time.
Culinary recommendation
South Tyrol's asparagus wine also goes wonderfully with light Asian dishes such as sushi or Thai chicken skewers with peanut sauce (saté), but also alpine delicacies such as quail breasts with sponge egg tartare.
Vinification
Harvest and grape selection by hand.Fermentation and ageing on the yeast in stainless steel tanks.
