About the wine
Bodega Amalaya is a winery in Cafayate and belongs to Bernese wine pioneer Donald Hess. The winery is known for excellent vineyards in the Calchaqui Valley, the highest wine-growing region in the world. The vineyards are located in an actual desert, so we have a fascinating interplay between hot days and cold nights. “Amalaya” means “hope for a miracle” in the language of the local Indians.

Tasting note
Intense cherry red with purple reflections. Complex aromas: cedar wood, chocolate, black cherries and vanilla. Soft start, silky tannins.
Culinary recommendation
It goes very well with game, beef or fine hard cheese.
Vinification
A blend of 85% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Tannat is aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels. A concentrated wine with a beautiful tannin structure. Calls for a piece of meat on the grill.
