The nobility of Tuscan wine

Antinori owns around 1700 hectares of vineyards spread across several regions of Italy. The majority of which are located in Tuscany. The family business is proud of its 26 generations and 600 years of history in the wine trade. However, the great upswing is not so far back: when Marchese Piero Antinori took over his ancestors' business in 1966, he brought the best oenologists to his estates and began experimenting with the terroirs. He did not shy away from breaking with iron traditions and wine laws by using grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah in the Chianti region. This was the birth of Tignanello, the first Super Tuscan. Antinori also focused on modernization and impeccable quality for Chianti. Unfortunately, this was anything but the norm at the time. It is undoubtedly thanks to the noble family from Florence that wines from Tuscany enjoy a high reputation worldwide today.

Tradition meets intuition

Today, the company is managed by Albiera Antinori, who is supported by her two sisters Allegra and Alessia. The youngest generation also relies on tradition, passion and intuition in their work - as these have always been the driving forces behind Antinori becoming one of the leading producers of Italian quality wines.
It is impossible to imagine the wine world without some of their wines: the "Tignanello" as the first Super Tuscan, of course, but also the "Villa Antinori", a modern Chianti Classico that has been produced since 1928 and is a permanent fixture in most wine bars and Italian restaurants. This wine is symbolic of the family and its history, as it demonstrates the perfect fusion of tradition and modernity. The "Pèppoli" should also be mentioned here as a representative of the typical, fruity-fresh Chianti Classico. It is the perfect choice for lean, simple Italian cuisine.

Of course, Antinori also plays an important role in the trendy Tuscan region of Bolgheri. With their "Guado al Tasso" winery, they are leaders in the production of red, white and rosé wines from the Tuscan coast. Another jewel in Antinori's large range is the "Castello della Sala" winery. It is located in Umbria, close to the border with Tuscany. In 1940, Marchese Niccolò Antinori recognized the great potential of the terroir for the cultivation of high-quality white wines. The soils are characterized by fossil marine sediments with a proportion of clay. These delicate white wines demonstrate the Marchesi Antinori's unique flair for first-class terroirs. Whether in Tuscany, Umbria, Salento or Franciacorta.
