About the wine

With experience and intuition, the winemaker from the Italian winery Poggio Argentiera masters this red wine in the fertile and blooming landscape of Tuscany. Culinary tip from Flaschenpost team: This Cabernet Sauvignon can be served very well with ribeye steak or Gruyère burger.

Tenuta ArgentieraRed wine | 75cl14.516°-18°C50% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc
James Suckling: 95/100
Falstaff: 98/100
Tasting note
Intense bright ruby red color. The bouquet is very complex with fresh notes of cherries, plums, cassis and a hint of dark wild berries, which are accompanied by intense and spicy ethereal notes such as eucalyptus and graphite, with roasted aromas on the finish. On the palate, we find the same aromas, which give a feeling of depth and smoothness. The mineral notes give the wine freshness and character as well as a pleasant and elegant finish. A harmonious wine, yet exciting due to its freshness and minerality. Perfect combination of finesse, structure and long aftertaste.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpost team tip: ARGENTIERA DOC Bolgheri Superiore goes well with ribeye steak, pizza with mushrooms and Gruyère burgers. Our recommendation: Drink this red wine at a slightly chilled 16°-18°C.
Vinification
The grapes, harvested and picked by hand, come from the most suitable areas of the estate, which are between 180 and 200 m above sea level. The whole berries fall into the tubs due to gravity, different varieties are processed separately. Fermentation and maceration took place for about 25 to 30 days in steel tanks at a controlled temperature not above 28-30° C. The wine was transferred to 225 l French oak barrels (half of them new), in which the malolactic fermentation was completed. The aging took place in barriques and then in bottles before the market launch.
