It was their master's degree, so to speak, when the young Giacosa, who as sons of the Fratelli (brothers) now run the Azienda as Cugini (cousins), a new vineyard have created. In the Bazaar, one of the historic Barbaresco sites, they were able to purchase a larger plot of land, the Vigna Gianmaté, and have thus taken a further step towards adding high-quality products to the range. It took eight years for the first wine to be ready for sale, astonishing for outsiders, a matter of course for the winemaker, a test of patience for the investor. It was worth it: Barbaresco Basarin Vigna Gianmaté has now become the company's figurehead and is rated highly by the press every year. And the best: Like all Fratelli Giacosa wines, Vigna Gianmaté has an unbeatable price/pleasure ratio.
