About the wine

In addition to a small village in the Piedmont region, the name Barolo also stands for a fascinating wine history, with which the Cantina Marchesi the Barolo is strongly linked. It was the Margraves of Falletti and the former owners of the winery who created the wine of the kings — the Barolo — at the beginning of the 19th century. Among the personalities associated with the name Barolo, there are a few who can be described as historic, indeed true pioneers. This pioneering role also belongs to Commendatore Pietro Emilio Abbona — an ancestor of the current owner family — who, as an undisputed pioneer, made the wine of his region and with it the Marchesi di Barolo cantina known all over the world.
