About the wine
Great tradition meets a breath of fresh air: Since 1881, the Pio Cesare winery has stood for the highest level of quality and tradition — since 2021, the large traditional Piedmontese house has been managed by Federica Boffa. The young powerhouse is hailed by the trade press as the youngest top winemaker in Italy. The Barolo Pio Cesare is the winemaker's pride and joy: an elegant classic that is refreshingly sensual and accessible. Grande!

Tasting note
Brightened garnet red. Very complex on the nose with notes of cherries, roses, cloves and juniper. On the palate, the Barolo Pio Cesare is dense, with ripe, melty tannins, yet balanced and elegant. Great fruit aromas, raspberries, cassis. Very long aftertaste. Very good aging potential, optimal drinking maturity: 2025 — 2045
Culinary recommendation
An excellent accompaniment to elaborate dishes and banquets.
Vinification
Aging mostly in French oak barrels. Ten percent of the wine is also aged in barrique barrels for one year. From the second year, barrique wine is added to large wooden barrels and is aged there for another year.
