About the wine
Family-run business in the Adelaide Hills, founded in 1997 with the ambitious goal of becoming the best in the world. The combination of wine culture and art was formative right from the start. The Adelaide Hills have become one of Australia's leading wine regions in recent years, and Bird in Hand was named “Redwine Maker of the Year” at IWC 2019. Goal achieved, you could say.

Tasting note
Raspberries and blueberries add fruit to the wine, vanilla, pepper and cedarwood add a pinch of spice to the Shiraz. In taste, the wine combines the classic “full bodied” Barossa style with the freshness of the Adelaide Hills: A full, fleshy body with a silky tannin structure that gives the wine a strong backbone and a long finish.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: Enjoy this red wine at a slightly chilled 10°-12°C. The wine should be enjoyed during this period: medium shelf life (5-8 years and longer).
Vinification
The grapes come from selected plots in the Adelaide Hills. The grapes are partly fermented using wild yeast and are left on the skins for 12 days. The young wine is then aged for 12 months in French barriques (40% virgin wood). All plots are vinified separately and are only melted and blended into a wine shortly before filling.
