Bluegray 2020 - Bodegas Juan Gil

About the wine

There is something left over from Christmas dinner every year. Do you know that? Why not invite your friends to a glass of wine in the afternoon to enjoy the festive meal again and we recommend this provocative Merlot 2020: Barren is the landscape in Catalonia, whose fascinating expanses don't fit on a poster, but in a bottle. With a lot of feeling and experience, the winemaker from the Spanish winery Bodegas Juan Gil ensures that his craft inspires and convinces you. Flaschenpost team tip: Combine this merlot with duck or slightly spicy red meat.

Tasting note
The Bluegray shows persistent aromas of blackberry and cherry on the nose and delicate accents of nutmeg and star anise, elegant and well-integrated tannins with notes of dried thyme, which have a long-lasting finish. Newborn again with new refreshing etiquette, this vintage shows enormous potential!
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: Enjoy this red wine at a slightly chilled 14°-17°C. Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: Bluegray goes perfectly with poultry, slightly spicy red meat and duck.
Vinification
Planted on terraces of blue slate and quartz soils known as llicorella, among pine and olive trees, the vines grow near the estate with very low yields to ensure that the grapes arrive in optimal conditions. The grapes were harvested by hand and fermented separately in small barrels for 10 days at temperatures below 28ºC, then matured separately in French oak barrels for 6 months and finally blended.
