About the wine
Enchanting and fertile landscapes in Veneto give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Masi conjures up this red wine with refinement and experience. Flaschenpöstler tip: Combine this Corvina with hearty meat dishes or roasts.
Tasting note
Rich cherry red. Concentrated and sweet and fruity on the nose. dried fruits, plum compote, cloves, black chocolate, sour cherries. Compact yet flattering on the palate. Smooth, ripe tannins and well-integrated acidity give the wine structure and character. Again, lots of ripe, dark fruit and spice, subtle wood aromas. A wine with the taste and elegance of Valpolicella and the strength and richness of Amarone.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with braised meat, polenta with cheese and spicy pasta.
Vinification
While Amarone pomace was previously added to young Valpolicella during fermentation, Masi now marries the young wine with whole, dried grapes to initiate the desired second fermentation. This process gives the wine even more content, color and structure, combined with more intense aromas and more complex taste. It is aged for 24 to 36 months in 600 l oak barrels (Allier, Slovenia) and for six months in the bottle.
