About the wine

Bodega Castaño — No. 1 in Yecla since 1985. The grapes for both grow at about 800 meters above sea level. The area is very warm, the Monastrell (in France “Mourvèdre”) loves the heat. Due to the enormous altitude, the nights cool down a lot. This allows the grapes to preserve their wonderful black-berry fruit and acidity in the best possible way. The sandy-limestone soils give the wines a mineral note, which makes them so wonderfully complex and harmonious. We were incredibly happy when we were able to taste the wines. The Moragón “Familly Collection” made from vines up to 100 years old has impressed us deeply, and the Moragón “Monastrell” from younger vineyards is the perfect example of a Mediterranean wine, fruity with a lot of charm.
