The modern Conterno Fantino business, located high above Monforte d'Alba on Bricco Bastia, has been producing a collection of first-class wines for years. In addition to great Barolo and Barbera, a top-class Chardonnay is also produced, only in very small quantities, more of a gimmick. Immediately after fermentation, the young wine is placed in new barriques (225 l), where it matures for about one year. It spends another year in bottles before it is released for sale. Chardonnay Bastia combines abundance and breed in an exciting way, can even gain in aromatic complexity through a few years of maturation and retain its vitality.
