About the wine

Winemaker Jan Boland Coetzee is primarily perceived as a former rugby star who turned his hobby into a profession and has built up three of South Africa's most successful wineries. Only a few people know that he has an oenology diploma from the University of Stellenbosch. In 1967, after 12 very successful years of professional rugby, he began the Canonkop project, and in 1980 the time seemed ripe for his completely own asset: Vriesenhof.
