About the wine
Tasting, selection and blending are the key words. In several phases of transformation, which are interrupted by regular and careful tastings accompanied by Mr. Eric Boissenot, the great wine profile of Château Citran is defined. The final blend results from the largest plots and the symbiosis of three grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Robert Parker: 88/100
Tasting note
Clear purple border Toasted notes of toast and black fruits (blackcurrant) on the nose. This introduction is elegant, delicate and racy. On the palate, it is fat, long and strong. It is very fresh and smooth in the mouth, the sweetness is perfectly balanced by the acidity. The aftertaste is long-lasting. A wine with a lot of expression.
Culinary recommendation
Our recommendation: The red wine tastes best at a slightly chilled 16°-18°C. The wine should be enjoyed during this period: 2010 - 2020. Flaschenpost team tip: Goes perfectly with red meat, ribeye steak and pizza with mushrooms.
Vinification
Some of the malolactic fermentation takes place in new barrels. 38% of the new barrels are made from French oak. Traditional aging with refilling every three months.
