About the wine
Robert Eden from Château Maris in southern France is a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture. He took over the estate in 1994, but discovered that the grapes did not taste good. He nurtured the vines with compost and biodynamic preparations. Today, the plants are so healthy that he can even do without sulfites.

Tasting note
Dense crimson color. Aromas of cassis, various herbs, sweet tobacco and roasted spices. On the palate, with medium fullness and fresh, lively characteristics. The Carignan grapes provide an interesting acid structure and a good shelf life.

Vinification
Winemaker Robert Eden is strongly committed to sustainable agriculture. He is considered a pioneer in southern France for organic and biodynamic wines. Chateau Maris has a vineyard area of 45 ha, which is cultivated according to biodynamic guidelines. The proportion of Carignan grapes for Les Anciens comes from the oldest vineyards on the estate, planted in the 20th century. The soils are a mix of clay, limestone and sandstone. A fermentation phase of 8 days is followed by a 5-week maceration phase. 6 months of aging in concrete tanks and concrete eggs.
