About the wine

Tasting note
The Rancia Riserva is always one of the most highly endowed red wines in Tuscany. Rich ruby red, spicy nose with delicious scents of black cherries, wild berries, plum, some tar, violets and vanilla as well as exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and intense with excellent depth, lots of energy and a seemingly endless finish. A wine with lots of character and immense ageing potential.
Culinary recommendation
Ideal with all hearty meat dishes, especially lamb, game and wild fowl.
Vinification
The single location called Rancia takes its name from a historic farmhouse, which was once a Benedictine monastery. The southwest location is located in Castelnuovo Berardenga at an altitude of 400-420 meters above sea level and has an Alberese soil made of limestone and marl. The grapes are picked by hand, carefully selected and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for approx. 18-20 months in French barriques before the wine matures in the bottle for at least 6-8 months.
