Tasting note
Bordeaux-style cuvee of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc and maturing for several months in new French barriques produce wonderful aromas of ripe cherries, currants, tobacco and chocolate and the perfect harmony between power and finesse. The velvety fruit density and the delicately spicy tannin structure make Christine one of South Africa's most popular red wines.
Culinary recommendation
The Buitenverwachting Christine is ideal for connoisseurs to serve with dark-meat dishes, in particular game. But this exciting cuvée is also great with exotic meats such as ostrich or pure.
Vinification
With her good name, the mother of owner Lars Maack was the godfather for this Bordeaux-style wine and as a result, they worked their best for quality. The Buitenverwachting Christine is aged for several months in French oak barriques and embodies - like the connection between two oceans near the Cape of Good Hope - power and finesse.
