About the wine
With the distinctive Grenache 2015 — Cifras Tinto DOCa Rioja, nuances and accents are redefined. With experience and intuition, the winemaker from the Spanish winery Creaciones Exeo masteres this red wine in the picturesque and enchanting landscape of the Upper Ebro. Flaschenpöstler tip: Combine this grenache with vegetables or spicy foods.
Tasting note
With the Cifras, Carlos shows that pure Garnachas also have a future in Rioja. Until now, this grape variety has always been shown as a blend partner with Tempranillo. Cifras is a wine with beguiling fruit aromas and a wonderful spiciness. Extremely juicy on the palate with silky tannins, strong minerality and great freshness.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with grilled meats, stews, meat with mustard sauce and game dishes.
Vinification
The grapes for Cifras come from the very steep 'La Hueta' vineyard in the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria. The vines are around 25 years old and a minimum yield of 5000 kg per hectare is harvested. After being picked by hand, the Garnacha grapes are fermented and aged in egg-shaped cement containers. With this process, Carlos wants to preserve the pure fruit and minerality in the wine. Only around 10% of the wine is aged in wood.
