About the wine
The winery is located 40 kilometers north of Lisbon and comprises 140 hectares of vines. José Luis Oliveira da Silva acquired the business in 1990. The temperate climate due to the proximity to the sea and the excellent hillside location allow the typical Portuguese grapes to thrive ideally. Casa Santos Lima is a family business dedicated to the production, bottling and marketing of Portuguese wines.

Tasting note
Intense ruby red. On the nose, beautiful aromas of ripe, red fruits and floral notes. The palate shows great complexity with notes of plums, blackberries and spices. Well-integrated tannins. Long, elegant finish.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with red meat, game dishes, large roasts and lamb shanks. It can be a bit hearty.
Vinification
The previously destemmed grapes were subjected to pre-fermentation at low temperatures for 24 hours. Fermentation took place in tanks of 10,000 liters with a temperature control of no more than 28ºC. After fermentation, the wine was in an extended maceration (cuvaison) for 15 days. The wine matured for 8 months in French and American oak barrels.
