Youthful in color with a very dark magenta core that merges into a bright and vibrant garnet red rim. Bright aromas of ripe black currants, juicy plums and fragrant dried herbs. This first impression is underpinned by a variety of spicy notes. Graphite, cedarwood and floral aromas emerge from the glass and close the bouquet with hints of violets, cassis and wild fynbos flora. The palate shows a dramatic start with concentrated aromas of dark fruits, the middle palate has a fantastic balance between power and elegance. The textbook ripening conditions of the vintage, combined with careful extraction and maturation methods in the cellar, have resulted in a convincingly structured wine with excellent freshness and depth. The delicious, fine-grained tannins provide a structured backbone and incredible texture that envelops the mouth. In its youth, the Five looks taut with enormous aging potential. The ever-present Constantia freshness ensures a long, lingering finish.
