Maurizio Zanella, one of Italy's most innovative and brilliant winemakers, produces red, white and sparkling wines south of Lake Iseo, in the “Franciacorta”, that meet the highest standards, all using organic methods but without certification. The Curtefranca Rosso Corte del Lupo is one of the classics of northern Italy and yet is barely known in wide circles. Perhaps because it is somewhat in the shadow of the big (and expensive) Cabernet-Merlot blend “Maurizio Zanella”. Curtefranca Rosso Corte del Lupo now consists of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Carménère individually vinified. After fermentation, the wine ages in large oak barrels for one year. The bouquet is distinctive and characterized by fruity notes. On the palate, it develops a nice mix of tannins, acidity and alcohol in perfect balance.
