About the wine
With the delicious Cote Rotie AOC Maison Rouge from 2012, you will positively surprise your guests. The winemaker from the French winery Domaine Georges Vernay grows this wine in the countryside of the Côtes du Rhône.
Tasting note
This Côte-Rôtie from old vines impresses with its dark crimson red. Strong aromas of black fruits, cassis, pepper, violets, oriental spices and cedar wood ensnare the nose. The palate is full-bodied yet elegant with an almost silky structure and noticeable minerality. Once again, lots of fruit, paired with notes of licorice and cigar box, lead to an almost endless finale. A top Syrah that is beguiling from a young age but also has great storage potential.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with hearty meat dishes, lamb, game, beef and Provencal dishes.
Vinification
The grapes come from an average 50-year-old vines from the extremely steep top location Maison Rouge. Due to the large slope slope, mechanization is impossible. The vineyard is cultivated organically and all work is done by hand. The fermentation takes place (partly with the styles) in open wooden barrels. The wine is then aged for 24 months in barriques with 30% virgin wood content. Just under 8000 bottles are produced annually.
