About the wine
A breath of fresh air in the Franconian town of Iphofen: the Weigand winery is launching with a fresh appearance, uncomplicated wines and a young, imaginative cellar master to show that even bigger things can be expected here. The Weigand winery is a classic Franconian family business in which father Werner and son Andi Weigand work together in the vineyard. Weigand stands for love for nature, the vines, the homeland. A return to the colorful diversity of nature. The consistency and tranquility of the vineyards & home. The interaction of father & son in the vineyards is reflected in the father's many years of experience and the son's new ideas. Preserving the old vines (45-55 years) is extremely important for the winery, as is manual work and organic viticulture according to Naturland guidelines. Everything unnecessary is dispensed with in the cellar and the wines are fermented with their own wild yeasts, which adhere to the grapes and float in the air of the cellar - the perfect grapes and the spontaneous fermentation of the wild yeasts produce wines every year that perfectly complement the Keuper soils and the work in the vineyards reflect. The collection of the Weigand winery in Iphofen is divided into three categories: the estate wines are called “The Wild” and are spontaneously fermented. The wines with the label “Der Held” form the qualitative top of the Weigand winery: these are Silvaner with an extremely high extract, from the half-piece. These are top qualities that, according to Gault Millau, touch “the Franconian top.”
