Tasting note
Intense garnet red color, clear and brilliant. The nose is sweet, with a predominance of ripe fruits such as fig and black cherry. Later, spicy notes of great complexity appear, reminiscent of turmeric and cinnamon as well as cocoa. The first impression on the palate is elegant, sober and very fresh. Good structure and soft tannins.
Culinary recommendation
Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: Duas Quintas Vinho Tinto Reserva Douro DO goes well with barbecue, tapas and white meat. Our recommendation: Drink this red wine at a slightly chilled 16°-18°C.
Vinification
A few words about vinification: Vinification took place in granite troughs and small stainless steel vats. The fermentation temperature varied between 25°C and 28°C. A month later, the wine was taken out of the vats and the must was pressed in a vertical press. Malolactic fermentation took place in barrels (new and of one fill) and hogshead casks (6,200-litre capacity), both made of French oak. The Ageing in Wood lasted 20 months.
